5000 m “Women”: Genzebe Dibaba and Hellen Obiri, a great duel in the sun of Rabat

The duel that will put the two big names in the world of women’s athletics at the top of the 5000m: Ethiopian Genzebe Dibaba and Kenyan Hellen Obiri.

Both will compete with the Dutchwoman Sifan Hassan, whose mission will certainly be to spice up the race and make it exceptional .

Genzebe Dibaba, whose Olympic and world success  is eloquent on the 1500 m and the 5000 m- olympic vice champion  and five times world indoor champion –, holds  the world record of 1500 m (3 min 50 sec 07), she also holds the fifth best world performance of all times of 5000m (14 mn 1 sec 41).

Hellen Obiri,  who is also olympic vice champion  and world champion of 5000m, holds  a record of (14 mn 18 sec 37) that  is ranking her as the 8th best world performance of all times.

It is an enthusiastic and aware Moroccan public that will fill the stadium of My Abdellah, to attend a race that promises to be one of the most exciting in this year calendar with a  final chrono that may reach high performances. Did the 2016 edition not show the Ethiopian Almaz Ayana pulverizing  the world statistics with a time of 14’16 "31 which is still the 6th best time of all times and Rabat International Meeting Mohammed VI  record ?.
