The Kenyan Cheruiyot wins the 1500 m

The Kenyan Timothy Cheruiyot won the 1500 meters race of the 9th edition of the Meeting International Mohammed VI d’Athlétisme, third step of the Diamond League, which took place, on Sunday, at Prince Moulay Abdellah Satdium in Rabat.

The middle distaance runner, finished the race in a 03.33.61 time, coming ahead of her teammate Silas Kiplagat (03:33.68).

“I didn’t expect to win the race today. It was pretty fast, this is a good beginning for me. I went in the lead early and i knew Silas was on my shoulder, so i had to keep going fast”, said Cheruiyot.

“The sprint was tough but I won it. This gives me confidence for the next races”, he added.

Third place went to the Australian Ryan Gregson. The holder of the Oceanian records (July 2010-July 2012) made it to the finish line in a 3.34.96 time.
